Now come on in! :)
Ahh, two of my favorite things from the Philippines that proudly shown themselves in our hallway entry. My cousins sent me that purse (it's sadly not sturdy enough to use anymore...see how it's falling apart at the strap?), and the wooden dancing lady used to be kept by my mom.
Oh. You want to see the whole lady, you say? Here, then:
She's pretty, isn't she? You might recognize her a little...she inspired this painting. And here are the fresh flowers this week. :)
Let's take a look at the living room, shall we?
I don't know what my affinity for hangers means. I just love displaying art and things all over the place on them. It's an affordable option, at least.
Oh, and that little wooden bowl? Snagged it from a thrift shop for one dollar. We're fancy down here!

Do you guys ever split up your big bouquets and scatter bits and pieces of them around the house to lift your mood? I do it all the time. Those green stalks are actually from the stems of the flowers.
Blue Splatter bowl from West Elm
My husband used to windsurf all over the country, and he got this wooden box from a windsurfing trip to Honduras when he was in high school. There's actually still money from Honduras in there, and he jokes that it just might be over $100. Probably more like $2, haha.
Sunlights do WONDERS in this space. I've never lived in a place with one before, so it's a treat to enjoy this one. Hope our next home has one...
Say hello to the kitchen. Heeey kitchen...
I DO love those lights, but I can't say I'm crazy about the gray-painted countertops. The color sort of limited our choice of wall color for the room, but the brownish gray isn't so bad. If we were going to buy this home, I would go nuts and probably put in a new countertops with mostly white and light veins of gray, then paint the walls white.

I'm often quizzically asked if I somehow forgot to put on the cabinet doors, but the truth is, they're out hiding in the guest bedroom closet. Try having open shelving in your kitchen! You won't nearly groan as much while you put clean dishes away...plus, guests don't have to wonder where to find which dishes. Works pretty nicely. :)
Love this little plant. It's managed to stay alive the entire time we've lived here...almost two years. Amazing for me.
I guess I'm sort of a rock collector, and this one I found on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Apparently, though, you're not supposed to collect rocks, and you'll get stopped by security at the airport and feel like a dork. I suppose they either didn't care or felt sorry for me, because they let me keep my sandyi plastic bag filled with rocks and shells. Oops?
Well, this completes part 1 of the tour!
Stay tuned for part 2 covering the guest bedroom, the master, and the office...coming up tomorrow!
