OVER THE WEEKEND

Hi, guys! How was your weekend?

Here are a few snaps I took while I was in Austin. I'm sure I looked a little weird sitting in Starbucks taking photos, but it's something I'm (sort of) getting accustomed to. It's an amazing feeling to let go and stop worrying about how other people might perceive you based on what you're doing. It's also nice to sit quietly and just observe. Do you ever do that?

FYI, I pretty much squealed out loud with excitement when I finally (but accidentally) figured out how to make the foreground sharp and the background blurry:

My husband and I used to order Vanilla Bean Frappuccinos all the time when we "liked" each other in high school. Some people despise Starbucks just for the fact that it's so commercialized, but I think I'll always love it. After all, it's been my go-to place to spend days writing papers while in school, it's been my haven for quietly spending time alone, and it's the place that houses so many sweet memories with friends, not to mention frothy drinks and moist, chocolately-banana cakes. Yep. I definitely spent time here in Austin.

Here's some stuff I usually lug around with me: shoulder bags, a little gold bracelet, men's watches, a cheap woven bracelet that my husband bought me in Hawaii (it's one of my most loved adornments), and my wedding ring (my VERY most loved piece). My guy got it custom made in our hometown. I have no idea what I'll do if I ever lose it...okay, now I don't want to jinx myself.

Just a couple of shots while spending time downtown compared to wasting time in the hotel.

Eh, sorry on this one. I was meaning to take a photo of our amazing wood-fire-grilled sandwiches from this place, but of course I attacked the food as usual without thinking about anything else. This place is called Puccia's, and they serve food out of a little trailer. Weird, you ask? No, no, the opposite. It. is. AWESOME. Mouthwatering, to be exact.

What did you do this weekend?

Oh, yeah, I know that feeling of figuring out a shallow depth of field (that's what I think it's called...not sure). Time to do a happy dance!

Great photos!

Rosa: I think that's it! Ha, well don't ask me, because I did NOT do well in photography during school. It's so strange that I'm pretty much learning now. It's so nice to be learning it the same time as you! *Happy dance* :)

I LOVE people watching. Going to a crowded place and just sitting and observing is one of my favorite things to do. Starbucks is one of the best places to do it :)

I love it when I figure something out on the camera. There is so much to learn about photography sometimes It's overwhelming but I take it one thing at a time.

Kyla: Agreed! Sometimes I can just talk too much, and it's nice to be silent and watch once in a while. :)

Daisy: Isn't it the best feeling EVER? You're exactly right. I always freak out over the big picture, but when it's broken down into baby steps, I feel like I can tackle learning (and tasks) better.

Wow, love those pics Danie, and the story behind, I always enjoy reading your posts! I love Starbucks, even if I hate coffee, thankfully they have a lovely green tea which I love to drink when checking my emails...
And about your gorgeous wedding ring, I'm ashamed to tell you that I lost mine, THREE times!!!!, yep! I have a problem with cold weather and "drained fingers", cold acts l like jibaro's in my fingers reducing them!!!...hehehe!
I wish you a wonderful week sweetie!

Big hugs!

That watch is gorgeous! And good on you for learning bokeh :) I wouldn't have guessed you didn't know how before, your photos capture light so nicely they seemed professional. Did you just lower the f stop?

Ines: Hi sweet! Thank you so much! I had so much fun all alone taking photos. :) You know I love your posts as well! Ooh, green tea...I'll have to try that! Three times?? Oh NO!! I'd be a sobbing mess every time. I'm so sorry, dear! Haha your poor husband probably has a few extra wedding rings stashed in the closet for the next time it disappears. ;) Hope you have the best week also! Abrazos!

pocket rocket: Thank you! Got it on sale at Ross for about a third of it's original price. :) Aww, thank you so much! I did! I think it was about 3 while the shutter speed was near 200, if I'm remembering correctly.

Brooke: Oh gosh, it WAS. I hadn't had one is so long, so I devoured it right after photos were taken. Thank you, dear! I'm definitely going to drop by. :) So glad you're here!

Ana: Thank you! Hope you had a great one too!
