EARLY MORNING + GOOD NEWS!

I woke up this morning at 6:30 AM ( and yes, I was forced to do so), and I came to the realization for the umpteenth time that the world is a beautiful place at the crack of dawn on my side of the globe.
Good news number one first: Clay and I celebrated our three year anniversary yesterday. Marriage is such an awesome thing--it makes you grow up while still remaining a kid, it exemplifies trust and care, and it's always a work in progress. I can't believe I'm blessed with this man at my side throughout thick and thin.

I of course scuttled around in old boxes of memorabilia, and I dug out an old photo of us as 18-year-olds when we thought we knew everything as high-schoolers. He makes me laugh as hard now as he did nearly ten years ago, and I've grown to look up to him more and more as each day, month, and year goes by.
I got to spend the morning with this love of mine on a quick drive to San Antonio, and now he's off at work again. We're trying our best not to be a huge rush for things, but this morning kind of turned into one of those instances. Minus the part where we at least made coffee before leaving our little Austin home. :)
Austin is so welcome and full of passion…it's inspiring me to really live in the moment. If I somehow forget how content I am, I have a big 'Viva' print to look at every day in our kitchen. That should make me remember, right?
Good news number two: Ellie was FOUND about a week ago!!!! For those of you who may not know, Ellie is my sister's dog who was lost after escaping after a car accident. Horrifying!

Thank you, thank you all so much who helped spread the word and who kept Ellie in your thoughts. My entire family was crushed at the thought of losing her for good, and I can't even begin to tell you how elated we were when she was found. An amazing man spotted her hiding under his tractor one morning, and he immediately fed her, gave her water, and wrapped her in a blanket. The poor thing had lost 20 pounds (down from 61 pounds to 40 pounds), and she was so exhausted that she couldn't even get up when my sister and parents went to pick her up.

Even though she's only been back home for a little bit, she's already gained her strength back, and she's as happy as ever. God is good, I'm telling you.
That's all I have to report at the moment. :) Hope you guys have happy updates as well.

xoxo

HOPE FOR ELLIE

Well, this is a sad post, but it's so necessary.
Mother's Day was cataclysmic for us--my sister (accompanied by her sweet dog, Ellie) was visiting Clay and me in Austin, and as my sister was driving back home to Abilene, she was in a car accident. I've been thanking God every day since that everyone involved was unhurt, but Ellie escaped from the back of the car afterwards.

Today is her fourth day missing, and my sweet parents have been driving back and forth with my sister to Cisco, Texas in search of Ellie, the small town where the accident happened. If any of you or your friends somehow happen to be in the Cisco, Eastland or Baird areas (or any of the surrounding areas), please keep an eye out for the friendliest (and probably very scared and hungry) Lab / Pitbull mix named Ellie.
My sister rescued Ellie as a tiny, hungry puppy, and she's been part of our family for over four years. She's the reason I ran into my husband by chance (I was walking her with my sister at a college campus while Clay was training for a triathlon at that same college), and it breaks my heart to think of her being scared, hungry, and lost.

I've heard of amazing stories from close friends of mine who have lost dogs of their own, and they were miraculously reunited after seven months. I'm praying and hoping it won't take that long to find our sweet girl, but really, she'll be welcomed back with open arms and hearts even if it's ten years from now.

Please share this photo and info with anyone you think might be of help:

SWEET, SWEET SUMMER

With summer peering around the corner, I'm now a classified hoarder of the sweet fruit that comes with the season. With peaches, strawberries, sunglasses and swimming on my mind these days, I kept thinking of this printed image in my head. So, finally, I just sat down to make it come to life one warm night this past weekend.
The only problem with delicious images printed in front of my face is the consequence of me wanting to turn around and eat all the fruit in the fridge. That's a risk I'll just have to take. It's healthy anyway, right?

Feast your eyes (pun dorkily intended) on the full version:
Hope you're having a sweet start to your week! I'll stop with the puns now.

BACK FROM SABBATICAL

Hi sweets! I'm kidding when I say I'm back from sabbatical…but it sort of feels that way, what not with the blog sitting quietly in silence as I explored and tried to form a new little home (still a painfully messy and crowded process).

Seriously, this is one of the very few clean spots in our place, sadly:
And here is the beloved view from our balcony. *Excitement!!!!*Fortunately, the sunsets here are just to-die-for as San Antonio's, and I have the joy of seeing it all the time. The traffic right outside our bedroom took a couple of nights to get used to (especially since there was a huge car show going on our first night here), but everybody is already adjusted. See below.
You know, I didn't think it was possible for her to get more spoiled than she was, but apparently anything is possible. I had thrown that sheepskin on her bed for a quick second trying to move things around, and off she went to accept the dull fate that it would now be her new "queen" bed. Status, not size, of course.
Our place is small, sunny, and happy. The view is pretty killer, and my running path surrounds the gorgeous lake. Gah. I can't wait to show you more!

Hope you guys have had a wonderful month! xoxo
