LONG TIME, NO SEE

Ack, has it been an entire week already? We've been seeing family, spending day trips in other cities, and getting the days of the week completely muddled. I wasn't able to get everything finished, but I did at least sit quietly in Starbucks and sketch a little. This is my cousin's daughter, who as of a few days ago, is now a big sister to her new baby brother. :)
Have a fantastic weekend!

CARRY

Ah, Friday! My parents are here for a visit, and I'm trying not to stare out the window at the machinery filling the streets as roofers are replacing not one, but two rooftops directly in my view. I'm so afraid somebody's going to tumble off the vaulted surface, and it's like I'm telling myself that if I watch out of my peripheral vision, they won't fall. Obviously, I don't have the same skill set of balance and coordination that others possess.

It's getting warm again here--I actually went running in shorts yesterday. The weather reminds me of Hawaii, which brings me to our Art + Story for this week. This one's titled Carry, and after much consideration of music choice, it reminds me the most of "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson.
The rain was softly pattering on the rooftops, sending translucent, steady streams down the corners of the shingles. They were waiting for the sun to divide the gray clouds apart, with the rain continuing to fall from the sky.

As soon as the sun peeked its way through the wispy blankets, she didn’t even take the time to grab her flip-flops before springing out into the muddy road. He grinned as she scooped up the huge palm leaves and bushels of colorful booms of flowers that had been snapped from their limbs during the tropical storm.

She came back to the covered patio, beaming under the weight of the rescued finds. They scattered the fragrant petals and soft leaves on the small tables, surrounding the plates of pancakes topped with fresh bananas and syrup and the white cups filled with black coffee, grasped the coffee cups high in the air and clinked them together, toasting to the the day’s first feast in paradise.

THE VALENTINE'S GIFT

I had weirdly wanted to make a painting of Xena for a while now, and after being stumped on a Valentine's gift for the guy, I thought this would make a hilarious gift:
His gift to me was to go kayaking in Austin, and I cannot wait! Us + Water + Austin = Perfect. :)

Xena will now be ever-haunting Clay in the form of watercolor. At the moment, she's perched on the shelf above his iMac. There's no telling where she'll end up next.
Hope you guys had a great weekend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PASADYA!

Welp. It's hilarious how I managed to be late on Pasadya's Birthday not only once, but now twice. Sheesh. Better late than never, I always say!

Thought it'd be fun to look back at this year as far as this little business is concerned. Thanks as always for following along! It's been an awesome 2 years so far! Here's to an even better year. :)
We celebrated love, drank up, visited the Big Apple, and of course generally kicked around.
We travelled to other parts of the globe, standing in awe at the sights England, Zurich, and Italy have to offer. We squinted up at the swaying palm leaves sparkling with bursts of sunlight peeking through the limbs. We ran into the ocean under the heat of the summer sun, dried off, and then jumped right back in again.
We dreamed about sitting under the palms next to the ocean constantly, stuck our shoes in the sand, and tracked mud into the home. We took pictures of each other and were reminded of the strength that love has to offer.
We worked with others and created to our heart's content, looking back with pride at the finished results and immediately wanted to dive right back into new projects. We took pleasures in the smallest beautiful sights like our rings on a leaf and the way the flowers looked with the morning sunlight spilling over the soft petals.
We gave into our sweet tooth, bundled ourselves up and sat with our feet propped up beside the fire. We remembered how we were as kids without a care in the world, and thankfully fell deeper in love.

Hope you guys realize you had a great year after looking back as well!
