FEATHER FLUFFS DIY

Hey, hey! Like I said yesterday, I'm a bit late posting the tutorial for these little puffs of happiness as far as the holidays go, but I think they would look so adorable for party decor, kids' rooms, or just for whatever you'd like, really.

I found the inspiration for this DIY from these ornaments sold at West Elm, and I couldn't help but hunt for a way to make my own (less tamed) version. If you wanted your little feather puffs to look more like the version from West Elm, you can just make sure to trim all the edges of your feathers straight and make sure they fan down and out. But, I didn't mind the quick and easy look. They're pretty fun!

Here you are:

I love the fact that these fluffs require next to no materials or effort. There isn't even glue involved! The styrofoam balls that I used were 3 inches in diameter, but depending on how small or large you'd like your finished product to be, you can choose the size. I also picked out white feathers because I had a kind of white and gold Christmas theme going on, but of course if you can choose any color you love.

Since the feathers I bought were a little long for my ball, I just snipped each feather in half.

Then I began to poke the feathers into the styrofoam every which way, until the entire ball was covered.

Easy peasy! ...Except I did have feathers flying all over the place. Close your mouth while you make these, unless you'd rather have pieces of feathers in your mouth like I did, ha.

Once you've finished attacking your styrofoam with the feathers, take your wire and stick it in the foam at an angle to ensure a good hold. Then, just shape the wire into a hook and cut the excess wire off.

Not hard at all, eh? Enjoy your little feathery-fluffy pom pom things! :) They're just so fluffy, I could die!

So cute! I like the idea of putting them on a string and making it into a garland too! :)

Laicie: Well thank you! :) I ended up kind of failing and only making two, so I think I need to make more, ha.

Wren: Hi, love! WHY didn't I think of that?? :)

Milynn: Me too! Thankfully I have creative readers like you guys to give me extra ideas!
